On Tuesday 29 May, at the International Press Centre - Résidence Palace, at the heart of the EU district in Brussels, European Voice will hold a debate bringing together EU commissioner for home affairs Cecilia Malmström, former UK immigration minister Timothy Kirkhope MEP, international migration expert Georges Lemaître (OECD) and a senior diplomat from a non-EU country.

This event will look at the importance of migrants for the EU's economic performance and how to design policy that makes the EU more attractive globally. It will examine the political resistance to a more open migration policy and how to address public concern about migration. The event will also assess the impact of migration policy on the economies of the countries which migrants are leaving.
